Moshav Matityahu Facilities

  • Beis Knesset – The Moshav enjoys a modern, well-furnished shul. In the spring of 2008, an expansion project was completed which almost doubled the floor space of the shul.
  • Yeshiva Gedolah Matisyahu – Situated in its own newly renovated building, the Moshav's Yeshiva is for post-high-school American boys who come to study for a year, two or more. Rav Leff shlita serves as the Rosh HaYeshiva and Rav Aharon Krokocki as the Rosh Yeshiva. The Roshei Yeshiva and Mashgiach are residents of the Moshav.
  • Kollel – In the same building as the Yeshiva, approximately 20 men from Kiryat Sefer and Matityahu learn in an all-day kollel, which is financed by private funding. Rav Leff shlita serves as the Rosh Kollel.
  • Events Hall – Located one floor below the shul is the events hall, which serves as the on-premises venue for simchas, community events and social functions. An extensive expansion and renovation of the hall was completed in 2008, effectively doubling the floor space of the hall and adding bathrooms, a kitchen and more.
  • Mikva – For women, there is a modern, comfortable, heated mikva facility on the Moshav. A number of Mikvos Keilim and men's Mikvos are available in nearby Kiryat Sefer.
  • Gemachs – Many Gemachs are operated on the Moshav and in adjacent Kiryat Sefer. See Chesed for more details about available Gemachs.
  • Playground – In the center of the Moshav is a large playground, surrounded by tables, benches and tree-shaded grounds. The playground was expanded with modern equipment in 2007.
  • Gan & Maon – A kindergarten and day-care center are operated on the Moshav. Click here for a detailed article about the Maon and Gan.
  • Matnas – On the Moshav is a Matnas (community center) which includes a children's activity center for children up to age 11 (arts & crafts, toy room, "ball pool," daily story time), games library, teen moadon, and homework room.
  • Youth Caravan – On the Moshav is a caravan dedicated to activities for youth aged 12 and up. In addition to a large table with chairs, there are comfortable bean bags to sit on, a collection of games and other items.
  • Shopping – Two large supermarkets, as well as scores of other stores (including everything from department stores to hardware stores, dry cleaning to appliances, computer stores to clothing stores, etc., etc.) are located just a few minutes away (by foot or car) in Modiin Illit. Click here for a more detailed description of the shopping availabe in the area.
  • Medical Care – Moshav members include a physician, nurse, and a number of active medics. All the Kupot Cholim (health service centers) have offices just a few minutes away in Kiryat Sefer. An all-night Terem center, serving members of all the Kupot, operates ten minutes away in Modiin. Shaarei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem is a 25-minute drive, and the Mercaz-area hospitals are only slightly further.
  • Postal services – An Israeli Postal Authority "mobile post" (post-office-in-a-van) arrives at the Moshav each morning at about 9 AM and provides complete post office services to Moshav members (including purchasing stamps, mailing letters/packages, paying bills, etc.). The Moshav's Mazkirut is also happy to handle these services on behalf of residents upon request so that one doesn't have to meet the van during its daily visit. There are also two full-service post office branches in Modiin Illit (the closest is in Merzaz Kesem, a five-minute walk from the Moshav).
  • Office services – In addition to postal services, Matityahu's Mazkirut (office) provides photocopying, fax and other similar services.
  • Security – Access to Moshav Matityahu is through the main gate of Modiin Ilit, at which a guard is stationed 24 hours a day (between midnight and 6 AM the gate is closed and must be opened by the guard). On the Moshav itself, a security patrol vehicle is on duty 24 hours a day, and runs patrols all night long, continually verifying the integrity of the surrounding fence. The Moshav employs a trained, full-time security officer and assistant security officer. These men maintain ongoing contact with the area's military commander. The Moshav maintains a volunteer Kitat Konenut (lit., "readiness team") who attend occasional army training sessions. In the event of any emergency, the team is on-call to secure the Moshav premises until the IDF arrives. The Moshav is situated literally meters over the "green line" (which runs to its south between the Moshav and Lapid), but is on the Israel side of the "separation fence" and before the army roadblock which is located on Route 446 north of Brachfeld. Matityahu is surrounded by Jewish settlements: Kiryat Sefer to the east, Lapid/Kfar Oranim to the south, Chashmonaim to the west, and Brachfeld to the north.

The modern, well-furnished shul seats approximately 180 people.

The playground, located in the center of the community, is surrounded by tables, benches, and tree-shaded grounds.

IDF training is provided for the Moshav's volunteer Kitat Konenut.
